What we handle in Athens
Real estate closings, title work, and deeds
Purchase and refinance closings, title examination and title insurance, and deed preparation. Alabama deeds are recorded in the probate office of the county where the property sits, and for Limestone County property that is the Limestone County Probate Office — a few minutes from our door.

Estate planning and probate
Wills, powers of attorney, advance directives, and trust planning where it fits. When someone has passed, we handle administration through the Limestone County Probate Court and advise on whether probate is required at all — sometimes it isn’t.

Business formation and contracts
LLC and corporation formation, operating agreements, and the contracts a working business actually needs — service agreements, leases, vendor and contractor terms. We also review agreements before you sign them.

Personal injury
Car and truck wrecks, premises injuries, and wrongful death. Alabama is a contributory negligence state, which makes early fact-gathering matter more here than in most places. Filing deadlines also run sooner than people expect. The earlier we see the file, the more room there is to work.
Also handled, within limits
We would rather tell you up front than waste your consultation:
- Uncontested divorce only. If you and your spouse are not in agreement on the major terms, that is a contested matter and a different conversation.
- Evictions, landlord side only. If you are the tenant, we cannot take your side and you should speak with someone else before your court date.
- DUI and traffic. License deadlines can run before your first court date, so call early.
We do not handle bankruptcy, immigration, roof-insurance claims, or student-loan matters. If that is what you need, say so when you call and we will point you somewhere useful.
Where we practice
Athens and Limestone County are home. We also serve Madison, Morgan, Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, and Lawrence Counties, and we keep a second office in Florence.
Questions we get from Athens clients
Where does a deed get recorded for property in Limestone County?
In the probate office of the county where the property is located — so, the Limestone County Probate Office. A deed that is signed but never recorded can create real problems later, which is why recording is part of what we do rather than something we hand back to you.
Is probate always necessary when someone dies?
No. It depends on what the person owned and how it was titled. Property held jointly with survivorship, accounts with a named beneficiary, and assets already in a trust can pass outside probate. Bring us what you have and we will tell you whether a probate case is actually needed.
How quickly can I be seen?
Most consultations can be scheduled within a few business days, by phone or in the office. If you are working against a court date, a closing date, or a license deadline, say so when you call and we will work around it.
